We wanted to keep every user in mind when Nomad asked us to design their Leather Case Series. We designed for the rugged outdoorsman, the minimalist, and the traditionalist who is a fan of all things leather. The cases are built with authentic leather from the Horween Leather Company of Chicago. Established in 1905, Horween is revered for their traditional tanning techniques. The vegetable-tanning methods used to produce these hides results in a rugged, yet beautiful leather that develops a rich patina as it matures through use.
A combination of protective polymer and traditional leather work. Made from high grade polycarbonate fused to a rubber TPE bumper, which provides full perimeter and screen protection. Nomad’s Rugged Leather Case has a 10ft drop protection and is compatible with wireless charging. Perfect for all adventures.
Protect your iPhone X and give it a modern look with the Clear Case. The soft microfiber lining cushions your phone and the shell provides edge-to-edge protection. This modern case is made of high grade polycarbonate fused to a rubber TPE bumper, which provides full perimeter and screen protection.
A traditional folio case wrapped fully in leather while the phone sits in a Dow Dupont polycarbonate frame. The folio holds up to six cards along with folded cash. The case was designed to replace your minimalist wallet so that the user can worry about one less object when walking out the door.
We pay close attention to detail when designing and engineering our products. With the Nomad cases specifically, we ensured a great fit between the case and the phone, and chose the best CMFG elements. These being the Horween leather and attention-grabbing dark gray felt. We enjoy putting in the little details, because we know it’s the little things that make a big difference.
Maintaining a modern, novel approach to color, material, finish, and graphics while blending organic and polymer based materials requires a delicate approach to proportions and overall form. Application of authentic Horween Leather from Chicago challenges the ‘tech-based’ approach of material selection by providing users a fashionable, vintage feeling to a technically demanding product. A leather-based approach to this phone case series was a key design pillar that had to be maintained. Using Dupont clear polycarbonate and Dupont clear thermoplastic urethane, provides a users phone with Mil-STD 6’ drop protection while keeping the focus on the 100% authentic leather.
With Nomad’s products, we want the user to be able to easily decipher the most important information about each product when looking at the package. We wanted the packaging to be cohesive through all Nomad products so that the user knows exactly where to look for this information. The tab and sleeve design gives the user the ability to view the product prior to purchasing. If the user is interested in finding more information about the product, they are able to easily search through Nomad’s site.
